Take a 10km coastal stroll along the wild West Coast of New Zealand with Robert Hodgson and friends as your guides. The Twilight Beach Walk is the Manawatu Walking Festival’s most popular walk, linking Himatangi to Foxton along the West Coast. This year we are starting at the Foxton Beach Surf Club and walking north to Himatangi Beach.
For this walk, we will be dropped off by bus at Foxton Beach, a 35-minute journey from Palmerston North city, before starting our walk north towards Himatangi Beach. We will be walking alongside one of the Southern Hemisphere’s largest sand dune fields, and we’ll get the chance to see local wildlife swimming, flying or crawling past.We take it at a steady pace, relaxing into the evening with a drinks break at about the halfway point.
Once we get to Himatangi Beach, fish n’ chips will be on order for you to enjoy picnic-style as the sun disappears for the evening. Alternatively, you can pack your own picnic meal to bring along with you.
Please ensure you wear appropriate walking footwear, bring warm wind and water proof clothing, and pack plenty of water, drink and food.
Note: The ordering of fish n’ chips will be taken before you depart Palmerston North, there will be 2x pack options to make this process run smoothly. Fish n’ chips are optional and are an additional cost which is to be paid at the shop.
